Solarpunk GenJam Experiment #1

🌱 GenJam: Solarpunk

An experimental GenJam. One prompt, four hours, and a single question: what does a future worth living in actually look like?

Solarpunk is the rare genre that refuses collapse. No chrome dystopias, no ash skies, no last human standing. Instead: solar sails and art nouveau ironwork, cities that compost, technology that grows instead of extracts. Think the wind valleys of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and the overgrown ruins of Castle in the Sky. Think Dear Alice, the four minute animated short that gave the aesthetic its clearest visual grammar. Think the closing frames of WALL-E, where a boot with a seedling is the whole argument. Think Wakanda, where the future was never something the West had to hand over.

Your job is to add to that canon. Teams get four hours to write, generate, and edit a solarpunk short from scratch. Lean into the look: green over glass, warmth over steel, community over the lone genius. Optimism is not naivety here. It is the harder creative choice.

🧪 Why This One Is Different
This is a test run. If it lands, Solarpunk becomes a recurring GenJam series with its own bracket, its own archive, and its own growing body of work. Consider this the pilot episode. What you make helps decide whether there's a season two.
