How to Use Gemini for Filmmaking | AI Filmmaking Tutorial
In this article and video tutorial, we will share one of our favorite AI workflows: How to Use Gemini for Filmmaking.
Gemini has recently been one of our team’s favorite LLMs to use in our creative workflow. It often seems that, compared to other tools, the creativity is far superior, but the main reason is that Gemini can watch your film and give helpful feedback.
Is Gemini going to replace real directors? Probably not, but the feedback is worth adding to your process for the sake of more constructive criticism in order to make your work the best possible.
We are super excited to share our workflow with you and show you this pretty impressive example!
Let’s hop in.

Below, we show you our process for utilizing Gemini to help give feedback on your film.
How to Use Gemini for Filmmaking
Below are some examples of how we use Gemini for feedback on a film.
What type of content can I upload to Gemini?
Like most other Large Language models, you can upload PDFs, text files, images, and other scripts that Gemini can analyze for you, but the thing that separate Gemini from other Large Language models is its ability to analyze video.
We created an AI Spec Ad and uploaded it to Gemini in order to get some feedback on the Ad.
As you can see, there is some room for improvement, but overall, it’s a good starting point to begin getting some feedback if you wre at this point in your project.
Is Gemini’s Feedback any good?
Gemini gave us a massive amount of feedback on this film, and the majority of it was incredibly impressive. Instead of listing it all for you to read, below is a video where we took the highlights and ran it through Elevenlabs.
This is really just a quick snippet of the feedback that Gemini provided, but the ability to understand things such as sound effects and visuals cues is mind-blowing and a massive step forward in the abilities of LLMs.
Is It as Good as a Professional Director?
The short answer is, no, but it doesn’t have to be. In our experience, about 25% of the suggestions are genuinely useful and sometimes brilliant.
Each time we have utilized this in a project, I would say there are always 2 to 3 pieces of feedback that end up actually making it into the final version.
For creators working without access to seasoned directors or large feedback loops, or maybe just somebody wanting extra eyes on a project, whichever situation you are in, this can be a huge advantage.
Is Gemini the best LLM for filmmakers?
Gemini is a phenomenal tool for filmmakers and those wanting to utilize the power of a Large Language Model in their production. Gemini definitely has the upper hand in its ability to review films and give helpful feedback.
