Best Open Source AI Video Model: Wan 2.7

Alrighty, below we dive into more specifics, showing our research to find the best AI video generator of 2026.

Let’s hop in!

Best AI Video Generator of 2026

Check out our rankings below and learn which are the best AI video generators of 2026.

AI Video Generator #1: Seedance 2.0

Compared to the previous version of the model, Seedance 2.0 is noticeably stronger.

The updated generator features multi-shot scene generation, native lip syncing and audio generation, improved physics, and more.

Check out Seedance 2.0s performance below:

  • Prompt Adherence: 9.1

  • Temporal Consistency: 8.1

  • Visual Fidelity: 8.3

  • Motion Quality: 8.3

  • Style and Cinematic Realism: 8.2

  • Total Score: 8.4/10

In our tests, physics-wise Seedance 2.0 proved to be an incredibly powerful model. It created movement that had weight and volume to it, unlike many other models out there.

If you look closer, though, smaller details need some tweaking: there are artifacts, warped details, and overpolished, plasticky edges in the background.

AI Video Generator #2: Kling 3.0

Kling 3.0 is among the most advanced video generators available today.

It’s quite pricey compared to other AI video generation tools, but the quality of the output is impressive.

Check out the scores for Kling 3.0:

  • Prompt Adherence: 8.1

  • Temporal Consistency: 8.0

  • Visual Fidelity: 8.4

  • Motion Quality: 8.0

  • Style and Cinematic Realism: 7.8

  • Total Score: 8.1/10

Kling is great for creating cinematic scenes that feel real. It creates believable motion that resembles actual real-life physics.

The model is also capable of mimicking complex camera movement and lens effects.

When there’s an overload of highly specific instructions, the model sacrifices prompt adherence for temporal consistency and motion accuracy.

AI Video Generator #3: Happy Horse 1.0

Happy Horse 1.0 is an AI video generator that recently came from the team at Alibaba. This AI video model seemed to come out of nowhere, but is clearly a competitive alternative to the models that are leading the industry.

Here’s Happy Horse’s rating:

  • Prompt Adherence: 8.1

  • Temporal Consistency: 7.5

  • Visual Fidelity: 7.3

  • Motion Quality: 7.7

  • Style and Cinematic Realism: 7.4

  • Total Score: 7.63/10

When the model initially came on the scene, the hype was unreal. But as per usual, it was all hype.

There are plenty of issues with this model, but the most notable parts are that it came so fast, as well as from a company as large as Alibaba.

We expect to see more from the team over there and cannot wait!

AI Video Generator #4: Luma Ray 3.14

There’s a lot to love about Ray 3.14, and to us, it’s one of the top 3 video generators at the moment.

It makes the scenes feel immensely realistic thanks to how well it handles physics and motion.

Here’s Luma 3.14’s rating:

  • Prompt Adherence: 7.3

  • Temporal Consistency: 7.5

  • Visual Fidelity: 8.4

  • Motion Quality: 7.6

  • Style and Cinematic Realism: 7.3

  • Total Score: 7.6/10

It also stands out when it comes to character creation: not only can Ray 3.14 keep them consistent, but it handles complex emotions really well and does a stellar job at imitating skin texture.

The quality of the output is on point, making further adjustments and upscaling almost unnecessary altogether.

However, there might be a slip here and there, and not every generation is artifact-free.

AI Video Generator #5: Minimax Hailuo AI 2.3

Hailuo from MiniMax is not as popular as many generators on this list, but it’s worth checking out. This tool with a simple, beginner-friendly interface, is a terrific choice both for simpler creative projects and professional work.

Check out the ratings from our tests of Minimax 2.3:

  • Prompt Adherence: 8.0

  • Temporal Consistency: 6.9

  • Visual Fidelity: 8.1

  • Motion Quality: 7.4

  • Style and Cinematic Realism: 7.1

  • Total Score: 7.5/10

With its Subject Reference feature, Hailuo is able to maintain an outstanding level of character consistency.

The model can create high-quality scenes with moody cinematic lighting.

Sometimes, though, it runs into issues with logic at a very basic level, e.g., fails to make the dynamic objects move or distorts human anatomy.

AI Video Generator #6: Veo 3.1

Google’s Veo 3.1 is one of the most remarkable AI video generators right now. Veo 3.1 Quality is a superb choice for realistic high-quality scenes, while Veo 3.1 Fast is impeccable for rapid generations to speed up the ideation.

Here are the scores from the tests we ran for Veo 3.1:

  • Prompt Adherence: 7.8

  • Temporal Consistency: 6.8

  • Visual Fidelity: 7.2

  • Motion Quality: 7.4

  • Style and Cinematic Realism: 7

  • Total Score: 7.2/10

Veo has a clean, simple, intuitive interface, where you can switch to a more advanced mode and add “Ingredients” (reference images) to ensure better consistency.

Not everything Veo 3.1 creates is flawless, though: it’s not that reliable when it comes to text rendering and picturing complex emotions.

Plus, motion sometimes lacks gravity and appears floaty.

AI Video Generator #7: Wan 2.7

Wan 2.7 is a solid video generation tool that demonstrates exceptional attention to detail. It adds barely noticeable touches like textured skin that instantly make the entire scene appear more true-to-life.

Here’s the rating for Wan 2.7:

  • Prompt Adherence: 7.3

  • Temporal Consistency: 6.6

  • Visual Fidelity: 6.7

  • Motion Quality: 6.6

  • Style and Cinematic Realism: 6.3

  • Total Score: 6.7/10

It’s great at creating atmospheric lighting and cinematic camera movement. Unfortunately, though, it can mess up the basic physics of the scene, creating illogical motion.

For those who are looking to create scenes with sound, Wan 2.7 has a native audio generator that will make some background sound for you even if you never specified it in the prompt.

AI Video Generator #8: Runway 4.5

When Runway 4.5 came out, the expectations were high as it was repeatedly called the best AI video generator on the market.

Sadly, it did not live up to those expectations, even though the model is quite good overall.

Here are Runway 4.5’s scores:

  • Prompt Adherence: 6.9

  • Temporal Consistency: 5.9

  • Visual Fidelity: 6.5

  • Motion Quality: 6.1

  • Style and Cinematic Realism: 5.6

  • Total Score: 6.2/10

Runway’s biggest issue is its high cost, especially considering its limitations. It often gets lost in complex motion that ends up looking illogical and unrealistic.

There’s an issue with object permanence in the generations from this model: things appear and disappear out of nowhere.

To be fair, though, Runway 4.5 is great at keeping the characters and the objects in the scene consistent.

AI Video Generator #9: LTX 2.3 PRO

LTX-2.3 Pro is not the top choice for professional AI video making, but it has its strengths.

Here are this model’s scores:

  • Prompt Adherence: 6.3

  • Temporal Consistency: 5.6

  • Visual Fidelity: 7.4

  • Motion Quality: 5.8

  • Style and Cinematic Realism: 5.7

  • Total Score: 6.2/10

The model can imitate cinematic lighting really well, and the end result looks sharp and clean. Despite visual fidelity being one of its strongest points, LTX-2.3 Pro struggles with movement.

It ends up being stiff and unrealistic, resulting in frustrating artifacts like morphing and limb distortion.

Since LTX-2.3 Pro is an open-source model, there’s infinite room for improvement if you’re ready to give it a try.

AI Video Generator #9: Midjourney Video

Considering how much users have praised Midjourney’s image generator, everyone anticipated top-notch results once Midjourney introduced its video generation tool.

But the model is far from perfect.

Here are the scores for Midjourney Video:

  • Prompt Adherence: 5.9

  • Temporal Consistency: 5.8

  • Visual Fidelity: 4.1

  • Motion Quality: 5.1

  • Style and Cinematic Realism: 3.9

  • Total Score: 5.0/10

Firstly, unlike most video generators, it does not have a native sound generator, so every clip you create is silent.

The physics are unreliable and lack realism, especially when it comes to busy scenes or complex movements.

Midjourney is still a fairly good choice for those who are looking to create aesthetic stylized scenes, especially if you’re already using Midjourney to generate images.
