Seedance doesn’t come without quirks such as slight overexposure in its generations, but most of its issues are easy to work around in post production. In terms of realism and quality, it’s usually the best.

Luma Labs released Luma Ray 3 in September and the quality of the generations from the tool is very impressive.
Ray 3 can generate videos up to 10 seconds long in 1080p and 24 frames per second. They also have additional HDR and EXR support which help with getting maximum color control from your generation. The additional enhancement in color comes at the cost of the resolution as HDR and EXR are only supported in 720p.
Most importantly, Ray 3 has an amazing draft mode that allows you to quickly preview your generations before commiting to the longer generation.
There are also additional editing tools for doing quick in-painting and edits inside the tool.
Long story short, Luma 3 is incredibly smart, has expert features, and is thinking about high-end post production in a way that is incredibly helpful for professionals. If you go with Luma you won’t regret it.
4. Minimax Hailuo 2

Minimax (also known as Hailuo) is honestly a tool that is often forgotten in the AI video space. However, the tool is very impressive when generating dynamic movement, and it specifically excels with animation-style visuals.

Minimax generates videos in 1080p up to 10 seconds long at 25 frames per second.
Minmax is a great option when you are trying to generate VFX such as fire or explosions, but it is not uncommon for it to struggle with realism in its generations.
The shot below is a great example. The explosion is very impressive, but the character struggles with the physics.

There was a lot of anticipation for Midjourney’s AI Video generator. They are by far the best AI image tool so there were plenty of expectations that the same might be true for Video generation.
Midjourney video isn’t quite as good as some of the other tools on this list, but the quality can be decent depending on the shot and project.
You can see pretty clearly in the shot below that the physics of the water is not very good. This is pretty true among a lot of the video generations from Midjourney Video.

One major perk of Midjourney video is the fact that there’s a high probability that you are already generating images, so having the ability to quickly animate them is a huge perk.

Kling has been at the top of this list many times.
This current model has recently become more outdated than previous models, but it has been around decently longer compared to others on the list.
You can see the performance pretty well in the video comparisons below. The physics of the water outperforms the other two videos, but it doesn’t understand the need to keep the lemonade inside the cup.

Kling 2.1 can generate clips up to 10 seconds long at 1080p in 24 frames per second. While it is an incredible tool, it probably wouldn’t be our first choice for most image-to-video situations at the moment.
Right now, Kling truly excels with its first and last frame abilities. You can define not only the start frame but also the end frame. This makes it perfect for creating very specific and dynamic shots.
We are hoping and expecting something soon from the team at Kling and cannot wait to see what is in store.

Higgsfield can definitely create some insane camera tricks, but you can expect to use up some credits before you find one that meets the standard and vision of your project.
Its presets are undeniably fun, but its dependability for serious filmmaking is inconsistent.

As an open-source tool Wan 2.2 can be tricky for the average creator to use. We typically use this tool inside of Krea to help with ease of use, but you are free to download the tool directly to your machine.
In the examples below, you can see both the low visual quality and the need for frame interpolation.

The output resolution of this AI video generator is possibly one of its weakest features. You can generate shots up to 10 seconds at 720p and 24 frames per second, but most of the generations seem to need some additional frame interpolation.
The quality is consistently pretty average, and creating anything close to realistic footage is nearly impossible.

Hoever, Moonvalley is definitely laying the groundwork for the future and we wouldn’t be surprised if their second or third version became helpful tools for filmmakers.

When SORA was announced, we thought (as we are sure you probably did) that it was going to change the world of filmmaking.
When the tool came, it felt like Christmas, then when we began using it, it felt more like we got the wrong present, right?
In all honesty, this tool has some pretty impressive specs: videos up to 20 seconds long, 1080p resolution, and 30 frames per second, but generating typically takes too long, it’s expensive, and the generations are not good.

Pika Labs has charm, quirky presets, and a fun app geared toward social sharing. The chances are, you’ve probably seen a video on social media that somebody used pika to create, and you didn’t even know it.
If we are talking about professional filmmaking, then Pika Lab’s AI video generator misses the mark.
Notable Mention: Adobe Firefly Video
Adobe Firefly Video can generate clips up to 5 seconds long in 1080p at 24 frames per second. These specs aren’t bad, but unfortunately the tool doesn’t allow you to upload your own images.
Along with that, the output can be very inconsistent in terms of quality. Similar to Marey, Adobe’s video model is copyright cleared, but the current model isn’t quite up to the standards of some of the other AI video tools on this list.
