How to use Google’s New AI Image Generator | AI Film News
Below is a walkthrough and comparison of Google’s new AI Image generation, nano-banana, as well as 111 other AI Film News updates we highly recommend you check out. Enjoy!
1. Google’s New AI Image Editor: Nano Banana
Google researchers launched Nano Banana, a text-based image editing tool that lets you upload an image and make precise edits with just a prompt. It also lets you generate images from a text prompt.
Here’s the prompt for the images below: High-fashion Vogue editorial photograph, shot from an extreme low angle through clusters of wild roses in the foreground, with blurred stems and petals framing the lens in an artistic composition. A stunning South Korean woman in her mid-20s stands gracefully against the backdrop of a sweeping mountain range, long black hair tousled by the breeze, soft strands falling across her luminous forehead. She wears a voluminous, oversized earth-toned ruffled sweater styled as a statement piece blending grounded natural hues with bold modern fashion. In her hands, she holds a bouquet of wild roses, the florals echoing the rugged beauty of the landscape around her. The mountains stretch out in the background--majestic ridges washed in muted browns, soft greens, and sunlit stone. Lighting is natural but styled to feel editorial: warm daylight softened by foreground blooms, producing organic flares, earthy haze, and sculpted shadows that flatter her figure. The image feels intentional and artistic, with elegant framing, crisp details, and painterly tones. A dreamy yet sophisticated visual, balancing the raw power of nature with couture styling. Captured on Leica SL2 + APO-Summicron-SL 90mm f/2, ISO 100, f/2, 1/250 sec.

I wouldn’t probably choose this as my first choice for a text-to-image tool but it seems to be the best tool available for editing images. In the images below I wanted to remove the woman from behind the man. I attempted in both Nano Banana and Runway Aleph. Runway basically created a new image while Nano Banana did a super impressive job.

Runway Aleph

At $0.12 per edit and capped at 2048px, it’s not for every project, but it’s a strong utility tool alongside if you are able to pair with a solid upscale tool.
2. Runway Integrates External Models (Including Veo 3)
Runway now allows third-party model integrations, starting with Google’s Veo 3. This means you can generate video clips directly inside Runway without hopping platforms.
This definitely comes at a cost—about $6 per generation, more than double what you’d pay using Veo 3 directly. Honestly, it doesn't seem like this would be super practical when you can find this chheaper elswhere, but it is incredibly interesting to see Runway integrating other APIs.
3. Adobe Illustrator Adds Turntable 3D Rotation
Adobe dropped Turntable inside Illustrator’s beta. It lets you rotate 2D vector art in 3D, treating it like a lightweight 3D model.
It definitely has flaws, but this will help motion designers and animatorssave major time rotating characters or products in space.
4. Alibaba’s Qwen Image Edit
As usualy, whenever a new tool like Nano Banana comes out, shortly after an open soucre alternative seems to be releasedAlibaba released Qwen Image Edit, a free tool on Hugging Face that mirrors Nano Banana’s functionality. It can remove objects, colorize, and refine images.
I tested it out on this image below, where I wanted to remove the guitar.

The results aren’t as filmic or consistent as Nano Banana, but being open source and free makes it a strong option for indie creators and experimental projects.
5. AI Text Replacement for Posters & Design
With sso many new image editors, I went ahead and tested editing text in images, comparing Nano Banana, Qwen, ChatGPT, and MidJourney showed mixed results in replacing gibberish text on AI-generated posters. Accuracy is still shaky—words often warp or misalign.
Here was the information I wanted to edit on the original from midjourney. Note, Nano changed the Aspect ratio so I edited it to fit here so it would also highlight the wording at the bottom.
Replace all placeholder/gibberish text with real, legible concert info. Use this copy exactly:

Chat GPT
Qwen
ChatGPT performed the bestt in terms of text accuracy, but none were super impressive to be honest.
6. OmniPart 3D Generation
OmniPart now lets you turn a 2D image into a part-aware 3D model with separated, editable components.
This is a game-changer for filmmakers and game devs needing exploded or customizable 3D assets. It’s still early, but a glimpse at the future of AI-driven asset creation. Along with that, this is probably the best quality of an AI 3D generation tool we have seen yet.
7. Runway Act 2 Adds Voice Swapping
You can now replace a video’s voice directly inside Runway Act 2. It offers dozens of preset voices without requiring ElevenLabs. This is prettty helpful for a tool like Veo 3, where you might need to alter a persons voice bhut have limited control over the generation.
Great for quick prototyping or stylistic shifts. Quality varies, but it dramatically simplifies voice changes in generated videos.
8. Higgsfield’s Product-to-Video Tool
Higgsfield introduced an update that lets you integrate any product into a video using just a reference image. It’s not always the most consistent, butt definitely usable for a professional workflow.

While not always more powerful than training custom LoRAs, it’s fast and accessible for advertisers, which definitely makes it a solid option.
9. Runway Launches AI Game Worlds
A text-driven, image-generating game engine inside Runway—like Dungeons & Dragons with AI art.
While experimental, it hints at Runway’s push toward interactive storytelling and game-like experiences. I am incredibly curious to see how they continue to press into the AI Gaming world.
10. Tripo: New Image-to-3D Tool
A fresh platform called Tripo converts 2D images into textured 3D models. Free credits are available for testing. Results aren’t yet production-ready, but fidelity is high. Useful for prototyping 3D assets quickly.
