NVIDIA's New AI Filmmaking Tool is Bonkers! | AI Film News

In this article and video, we’ll cover the latest news in the world of AI Film tools. From NVIDIA to Google, there have been some major tools released.

The pace of AI filmmaking isn’t slowing down—it’s accelerating.

This week alone, we saw breakthroughs in 3D world generation, AI screenwriting, voice acting, and video editing workflows. And more importantly… these aren’t just cool demos anymore. They’re starting to reshape how films will actually be made.

As in typical Curious Refuge fashion, let's break it all down.

NVIDIA's New AI Filmmaking Tool is Bonkers!

The pace of AI filmmaking isn’t slowing down—it’s accelerating.

1. NVIDIA Just Launched the Best AI 3D Tool Yet

The biggest story this week comes from NVIDIA with a tool called Lyra 2. At a high level, it does something pretty wild:

  • You input an image

  • It generates a full 3D world

  • You can move a camera through that world and explore it

But here’s the real breakthrough… it doesn’t just generate visuals—it reconstructs actual 3D geometry behind the scenes.

Why this matters for filmmakers: Right now, most AI filmmaking workflows are a bit clunky. You generate an image, animate it, and stitch clips together. The problem? You lose spatial consistency.

With tools like Lyra 2, you can build a persistent world, move your camera freely, and direct scenes like a real filmmaker. This is the shift from generating shots to building worlds. And that’s a completely different game.

2. HunYuan Launched their New World Building Model

It’s not just NVIDIA. Tencent and World Labs are also introducing scalable engines for exploring massive environments. We’re talking about:

  • Fully explorable environments

  • City-scale rendering

  • Persistent world memory

Just a few months ago, this level of tech would’ve cost millions. Now? It’s becoming accessible.

The bigger takeaway is that open-source tools are rapidly catching up to premium, credit-based platforms. And for creators, that’s huge.

3. This White Paper shows how you’ll be able to get more detail than ever in your Image very soon.

Another fascinating development is "Wonder Zoom." This research lets you zoom infinitely into an image, generating new detail as you go.

Why it matters If you’re missing coverage or angles, you can reframe shots and extend environments. This turns technical limitations into creative flexibility.

4. Here’s a Workflow for Editing Videos Using Seedance 2.0

We also saw a practical workflow using Seedance 2.0 inside Runway. Often, when generating a shot, it might add a person into the background. This work shows how to remove the person. We tested it for ourselves.

While it works for removing characters and regenerating scenes, there are tradeoffs…

Original

  • Requires multiple generations

  • Costs add up quickly (~$4 per attempt)

  • Can introduce visual artifacts

The lesson: It’s still better (and cheaper) to get your base generation right the first time. Iteration equals cost.

5. Midjourney 8.1 Is a Major Upgrade

Midjourney quietly dropped version 8.1, and it fixes a lot of issues. Images look more polished, and the lighting and composition have improved significantly.

Midjourney is still one of the absolute best tools for visual style and cinematic look development.

6. Google’s New AI Tool is Finally Here

Google introduced a new tool called Fabula. It’s designed to mirror the real writing process by keeping your story beats and characters all in one system.

This is important because most AI writing tools feel disconnected. This one mimics real workflows and structures creativity. Google is positioning itself to connect the entire creative pipeline.

7. Google’s Text-to-Speech Model is Crazy Impressive

Google also released Gemini 3.1 TTS, and it solves a huge problem: Direction.

Instead of using technical tags like [sad] or [angry], you can now define the scene, context, and emotional situation. This is how directors actually work.

8. Hollywood Isn’t Replacing Creators… It’s Hiring More

One of the most interesting insights this week is that creative roles are still in demand. Despite AI, writers and artists are still essential.

9. This $70 Million Film is Using AI

We’re seeing this play out with director Doug Liman, who is working on a $70 million AI-driven film heading to Cannes.

This is the real test: Will AI-generated films be accepted as premium cinema?

10. Check out the AI Films of the Week
