In the world of AI Film News, this past week started slow with only small AI Film news updates and new AI tools, but it quickly turned a corner. One of the mostt interesting part was how many people were playing with Seedance and talking about the quality of the tool.
I had to jump into that conversation to see if it would hold up against Veo 3, and I was definitely surprised.

1. Seedance 1.0 Pro Beats Veo 3
ByteDance’s Seedance 1.0 Pro (I use this on fal.ai) has only been out a few weeks, but in our side-by-side tests, it beat Google’s Veo 3 in both visual realism and motion quality.
The training data was manually cleaned to remove logos, subtitles, and violence, and annotated for style, motion, and composition. The Pro model supports text-to-video and image-to-video, with native 1080p up to 12 seconds.

At $0.62 for a five-second Pro clip, it’s five times cheaper than Veo 3. We were super surprised by the oputcome of this test, but I am curious to see where we will be in 6 months when we compare these tools again.
2. Adobe Harmonize Makes Composites Look Real
Photoshop Beta’s new Harmonize feature automatically blends your subject into any background, matching light, tone, and shadows. I ran 2 tests, one was intended to be for an Advertising project and one was intended for a film.
I was incredibly happy with the output from both generations and went ahead and animated the product shot using seedance just for fun.
3. Genie 3 Creates Playable 3D Worlds
DeepMind’s Genie 3 turns a text prompt into a full 3D environment you can explore.
It outputs at 720p, 24fps, with persistent memory, physics, and editable world events. You can add weather, characters, or objects on the fly and revisit scenes with changes intact.
There are plenty of issues with this tool, but more than anything this update highlights how soon we will begin to see blending between games and films.
4. New AI Video generator for Anime Scenes
Boba’s web-based platform creates stylized anime sequences with lip sync, consistent characters, and 4K upscaling. It supports text-to-video, voice, and music, with plans starting at $10/month. Ideal for indie animation and animatics.
We are excited to test this out against some of the other tools. Hailuo also prides themselves on generating impressive anime shots, so I am excited to see how these two tool match up against each other.
5. Leonardo’s New AI Image Generator Lucid Origin
Leonardo’s Lucid Origin model now outputs native HD with more consistent aesthetics and character variety. There have been a ton of amazing examples online

Better than previous models, though still behind Midjourney for cinematic polish. When I tested the tool, I definitely noticed progress, but I wouldn’t call this a realistic competitor to Midjourney. If you are already an avid user of Leonardo, this is a solid option for you creative workflow.
6. AI Sketch Comedy Competition Extended
We have officially extended the submission deadline to August 10 at 11:59 PM Pacific. $9,000 in prizes are up for grabs. This will give even more time to create a hilarious sketch that wins this competition.

7. ElevenLabs New AI Music Generator
ElevenLabs’ new music tool creates full songs from a text prompt—vocals, instruments, and all—using licensed catalogs from Merlin and Kobalt.
It supports multiple genres, languages, and moods, making it safe for commercial projects. The upper hand here is the copyright-free generations. Most of the other AI Music generators are not copyright-free, which means you are unable to use them on professional projects.

REN Home is photoreal product storytelling at its finest. Every frame looks handcrafted for a high-end ad, with lighting, textures, and motion that feel entirely real. Layer in polished, cinematic sound design, and you’ve got a short that could sit comfortably alongside top-tier commercial campaigns.
